Overview - The birthplace of Spanish football, Huelva is a marshy, former tin-mining town with a compact centre. Despite being Spain's oldest football club, Recreativo de Huelva have had little to shout about in their 118 year history. At least they are now back among the big boys in La Liga though, after a sustained period in the lower divisions.
Airports & Transfers - The nearest airport is in Seville, 55 miles north-east of Huelva. Buses link the airport to central Seville (2.40Euros), from where you can catch a train to Huelva - journey time approx. 1 hour 30mins. See www.bahn.de for train timetables.
Nightlife - Plenty of bars to suit all tastes on Calle Gines Martin, bang in the middle of town. In summer, the nearby beach resort of Punta Umbria is the place to be.
