Stadium - The 26,000 capacity Estadio Jose Zorilla was constructed for the 1982 World Cup and lies a good couple of miles west of the city centre on the other side of the river, in what can only be described as the middle of nowhere. Take a bus from the city centre.
Ultra Culture - On the right of the political spectrum are the Ultras Violetas, with the Fossa Garrafoni on the left. Local(ish) rivals are Burgos to the north.
Overview - A major university city, undiscovered by tourists, Valladolid is capital of Castilla-Leon and has a young and lively feel with plenty of bars and cafes, plus a newly promoted La Liga side.
Airport & Transfers - Valladolid Airport - six miles north-west of the centre, linked by four shuttle buses a day. Tickets are 3Euros. Taxi's 18Euros.
Nightlife - As befitting most provincial university towns with large student populations, Valladolid is packed with bars and clubs of all shapes and sizes. Kick things off down Calle Paraiso and Calle Portu between the cathedral and the university, and then head onto Plazas Cantarranillas, El Cuadro or San Miguel for a wide variety of traditional Spanish bars, Irish pubs, boho bars and trendy clubs.
Shopping - The pedestrianised streets around the main square - Plaza Mayor - are the heart of Vallodolid shopping. Calle Santiago is the main street with the ubiquitous El Corte Ingles department store nearby on Paseo de Zorilla.
