Overview - Too far inland for many of the British visitors to the Murcia region, the city itself is chilled out and compact and boasts two decent football teams, one of whom - Real Murcia - are back in La Liga with a new stadium this season.
Airport & Transfers - San Javier Airport - 30 miles east of the city, linked by just two daily buses taking 45mins at a cost of 7Euros. Taxi's 60Euros. Alternatively, get a taxi into San Javier for 8Euros and then the no. 70 bus to Murcia for 2.90Euros.
Nightlife - Head to the university area between the cathedral and the stadium for lively late-night boozing. Calle Simon Garcia and the parallel Calle Canovas del Castillo are good bets.
Shopping - Murcia's two main shopping thoroughfares are Calle Plateria and Calle Traperia.
